We are interested in the inherent thought of adapting new ways of living in the design of housing architecture, in order to understand the evolution of cities. The aim was to maximise and increase housing capacity in the city of Guimarães, with a view to develop the design of human experience in an urban context, by studying new ways of living in accordance with daily experiences.

Faced with a terrain with a ‘strong personality’, with its very own characteristics, which must be promoted in conjunction with the proposed piece of architecture, in the process, it was decided to develop a building with a contemporary language, simple-to-read shapes, thereby reducing its image to the essentials. The architectural object is ‘born’ as a monolithic piece guided by the horizontal structure slabs, revealing the exterior walls that are covered with a ‘skin’ made up of lacquered glass panels, which allow the building to take advantage of the reflection and ‘appropriation’ of the surroundings in its own skin. This skin is ‘’ripped‘’ in the areas intended for outdoor spaces, where wooden lath is the predominant material, enveloping the entire space.

The intention is to create a housing unit with a defined identity, with its own characteristics and its own space and dialogue, an intervention that claims its right, asserts itself, but integrates itself, not as a ‘fracture’, but as a complement.
