Rural House FM is set in a rural context, de-fragmented, ‘solitary’ in the dispersed composition that surrounds it.

It became imperative to reorganise this space, study its purpose and adapt it to new circumstances.

The ‘barn’ – one of the symbols of Minho’s typical architecture – has now acquired a new function, as a cosy, flexible living space that allows interaction with the surrounding nature.

The idea was to revive the piece’s identity, giving it a new programme and spatial character, with the principle of intervention being the piece’s uniqueness and its roots.
