‘Half of a house’. Demolishing the shape of the house.

Faced with the proposed intervention on a plot of land that belongs to an allotment, where the surrounding area is characterised by ‘traditional houses’, the idea arose of thinking of the shape of the house as a designed, moulded, sculpted piece.

The volume presented is the result of the deconstruction and de-materialisation of this ‘traditional’ form of the house – a volume with two sides. This volume is ‘cut’ lengthways, giving rise to the pure shape of just ‘half a house’. In this white mass, voids are cut out as a composition of elevations, which appear as extensions of the interior spatial dynamics.

At AF House, exterior features are combined with interior spatial organisation, achieving a balanced relationship between built mass and empty space. This harmony is also felt in the design of the interior space with the creation of dual spatialities, which allow the relationship between the different floors to be apprehended through the reproduction of the formal exterior design.

Starting from this exterior volumetric design, the interior space is thus designed as a whole.
